In search of 18 Queensway 50 years later

Many of us do not recall where we were in our first few years.  There are a few stories that I recall that made me quite unique as a child growing up in North Minneapolis, Minnesota.  My mom is from Derry, Ireland. Not an accent many would find in North Minneapolis.  My older brother Paul, was born in a hospital just a couple of miles from that home. I however, was born in Lakenheath England.  For the first two years of my life we lived in a small town called Mildenhall.
On 23 September, 2018 I finally made the journey back to 18 Queensway.
We pulled up to the across the street, I asked Patrick to take a picture of me by the front door so I could send it to my mom and dad.  While crossing the street, I thought, "of course I'll knock on the door"  Well, I knocked and there was no answer.  We waited for a few minutes and decided that we got what we came here for.  I saw the house where I spent the first couple of years of my life.  Cliche as it sounds, was just getting ready to climb back into the car, the door opened and a woman was looking around to see who had knocked.  I called out from across the street.  On the door step I explained that I lived in this house 50 years ago.  As I said those words I suddenly felt my age.  The woman, along with her two granddaughters stood and listened with smiles on their faces and then invited us in to see the house and wondered if I recalled any memories of it.  I sure do wish that I could say I did, only from photographs do I have any memories of it though.
We sat and had a cup of tea and were told of the renovations that had taken place in the house. Sounds as though it had fallen into disrepair for many many years.  The walls were taken down, a kitchen was added on and this woman has lived in the house for the past 10 years.
After a cup of tea, and learning a bit of the lives of those who now live there we decided it was time to head on out.  I asked if we could have a photo of us, a wee little fuss was made and we gathered it the front room in front of the fire place.  As we all pushed together for a photo, the woman says "I don't even know your name!  I'm Sheila and these are me granddaughters Shaun and" ..... doggone it, good thing we have photos to help with the memories!
